Hello, friends! In this episode, I answer questions related to asking your partner to get help for their mental health, and codependency in parenthood and how to separate and preserve your own wellbeing.
Good morning, I just found your podcast and find it extremely helpful. Thank you for doing what you do. I’m married with 3 kids. 5,4,2 and my spouse has dealt with depression most of her life due to the trauma she’s had as a child, adult etc. She hasn’t addressed her depression and knows she has it. She’s asking for a divorce now and I’m trying to figure out the best approach to recommend seeking help for her depression. You mention we can submit questions to you in your podcast so here I am. Her mom dealt with bad depression and she’s mentioned she feels like she’s doing the same thing her mom did. Thank you
Hello, I have a question. I have 3 kids 24, 27, 28. All through their lives, I’ve realized that my happiness is dependent on how they are feeling. If they’re upset then I’m upset. Recently I retired and I must say that my first year of retirement has been a nightmare. My daughter was very depressed over a broken up relationship. I could not find any happiness because she was so sad. I know I can be there for her without it being MY issue but in reality, I want my kids to be happy and “okay”. Well, she was not okay and therefore neither was I. My question is how do I separate myself from their problems? (of course, I want to support them, but her sadness literally swept me away into a depression myself) I can’t seem to do it and therefore I’m miserable a lot of the time. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
