This was an episode that was supposed to air a while back. I postponed it due to a shooting at my alma mater’s college night at the Borderline night club in Thousand Oaks. I felt that the topic just wouldn’t be appropriate for that day. However, now that we are in a new year, it’s the perfect time to think about your values, your goals, your aspirations, and how to live better in the now. That’s exactly what we talk about in this interview. In this episode, I interview Kate Manser from You Might Die Tomorrow about the concept or mortality awareness and how that can be used to help you make decisions and appreciate the present.

I know I already did a holiday themed episode, but I figured you guys could use a little more love as you continue through the holiday season. Rather than answering your questions today, I’m going to lead you through a guided relaxation designed to help you de-stress and relieve some of the stress that often accompanies the holidays. Give yourself the gift of relaxation. Put in some headphones. Chill with me. I got you.

For this episode, I was feeling a little too overwhelmed by the week to do a Q&A so instead I decided to talk to you all about breathing. We talk about different breathing exercises and how to practice them so that they are useful to you in moments of stress or anxiety. We cover the physiological mechanism behind relaxation breathing. Finally, we briefly cover mindfulness and meditative breathing.

Things have been weird over here in the states. I need a break from podcasting this week and I think we could all use a little relaxation. Whether this relaxation is to help you cope or to rejuvenate you to get back out there and keep at it… you deserve a few deep breaths. What I uploaded for you this week is a guided muscle relaxation. There is no intro or anything like that. I just dive straight into a walkthrough of how you can use your breath and muscle tension to put yourself into a deep state of relaxation. Enjoy and take good care of yourselves.

In this episode, I interview Lindsay Istace who is the creator or Rage Yoga (http://rageyoga.com). You have probably heard of Rage Yoga already since it blew up on the news and social media. It is an alternative approach to yoga that strips away the BS and encourages you to release your inner tension through the use of a few choice expletives and “fist unicorn” additions to your normal yoga poses. This was a really insightful interview and I hope that you enjoy it as much as I did.
